Full base Colourpop Cosmetics| Review for oily skin

It had been so long since I’ve just beat my face just for the fun of it, and it was great to actually get a chance to! I have been wearing the new No Filter foundation, concealer, primer, loose powder and pressed powder for a few weeks now but haven’t had the time to fully update you guys on my thoughts!

No Filter Foundation ($12)

This matte, oil free foundation has a claim to be build able and natural feeling with a blurring feature to help skin appear flawless. For me the formula was definitely everything it claimed to be. It is build able and can go from your skin but better to full coverage with just a few extra pumps or simply by using their foundation brush for application. A huge problem for me and my oily skin is that foundations often break apart when I get oily or literally slide off specific areas like my nose or T-zone. This foundation lasted me a full 8-hour humid summer day with little to no oils peaking through and best of all it didn’t slide off like others do! I’m so impressed with this foundation! Luckily I have a back up , because the only disappointing this was the fact you don’t get a full ounce of product like other foundations. This is definitely going to be a problem for full coverage every day babes, but for the price point its definitely not that bad.

No Filter Concealer ($6)

The no filter concealer has claims to be full coverage, long wearing, and matte. This is my second time purchasing this product so I already know my thoughts and that is that this is one BOMB ass concealer! I am a LA Girl Pro Concealer type of girl and have been from the beginning of my makeup journey. It’s affordable, build able, and blends like a dream. The Colourpop concealer is the best version of the LA Girl concealer. Its full coverage, so being build able isn’t an issue, it blends like a dream, it’s affordable,  and it has an amazing flexible doe-foot applicator.

All Star Primer ($10)

This primer claims to be matte and to blur the skin giving a flawless base to foundations. It’s super affordable at $10, just under a full fluid ounce at .88oz, minimizes my pores so well and is the perfect base for my oily babes out there. I’ve noticed that with this primer I do not have to set it to keep matte through the day.

No Filter Loose Setting Powder in Translucent Deep ($9)

This setting powder is so bomb! I recently received the Laura Mercier setting powder in medium deep and was hooked! I loved it so much! But the main reason I hadn’t tried it yet was price point. It’s not a purchase I can regularly make with a clear conscience. Then I made this purchase and let me tell you I was SHOOK! It’s one of the best loose powders and the shade of the powder was perfect for my skin tone. I can easily compare it to the Laura Mercier powder and that by its self is AMAZING! At $9 i can easily purchase and not have to think twice.

No Filter Sheer Matte Pressed Powder ($9)

I have never had a pressed powder I’ve loved as much as the Lorel matte pressed powder. My only problem? I could never find my shade in store. I searched and searched and have even to this day only seen my shade in that powder two other times. So this pressed powder was on my wish list when I found out about it. It is an absolute DREAM! It sets my foundation so well, is super affordable and can be build able depending the type of brush you use to apply. I’ve tested this powder to set my face as well as a minimal coverage all over powder on a few no foundation days. I am so impressed with this powder it’s literally perfect to me.

Every base product in Colourpops line is amazing to me, especially with my oily skin!

Have you tried out their full base line? Thoughts?

May Favorites: Beauty Edition

While May maybe over June is here with a fresh start! I’m sharing my May beauty faves today! It’s been so long since I’ve done a favorites post in general so bare with me while I keep today’s simple and to the point.

Last month, I found myself reaching for three products in particular! I first couldn’t stop picking up the NYX Illuminating primer. I believe I mentioned it briefly in my Go To Summer Makeup Routine post. I’ve been living for this primer! It’s lightweight and gives the best healthy glow! While a con for my fellow WOC would be the white cast it leaves on bare skin, I’d love to add that under my powder foundation it’s beautiful! I found that when I used this primer with my regular liquid foundation, it gave a gray like undertone that was super annoying. But after playing around with it, under my powder foundation worked best.

Next is this Kush Mascara by Milk Makeup! Can you say can’t live without?! I received this mascara complimentary from Influenster for testing and I absolutely fell in LOVE! The mascara is cannabis oil infused and has cool heart shaped fibers to latch on to your lashes and really make them stand out! I posted a video of my initial review on my YouTube channel .

Last but not least is the Kandy4Beauty Joyful pallet. I was asked by this company to work with them and to promote their brand. While the business side of working with this company hasn’t been the best, I will say I’ve really been enjoying this pallet. I used it in a GRWM on my channel and did swatches for instagram and was really impressed with the quality! They were kind enough to give me a discount code for my followers! You can use code ‘ melalynn ‘ to save money with Kandy4Beauty !

💜Pink an’ Purp Makeup Look : Kandy4Beauty Review💖

Products used:

Black Opal foundation stick in Suede Mocha

LA Girl Pro Concealer In Toffee

Black Radiance contour pallet in deep

Kandy4Beauty Joyful pallet ( save $$ with code Melalynn)

Elf lock on liner and brow color in Espresso

Colourpop supernova shadow in firecracker

Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighter in Dripping in Gold

I received this pallet free for review as apart of the companies influencer program. The company was super professional and I received my product in the time I was expecting. As for the pallet I have done a few swatches and have used the pallet on a few different occasions. I’m pretty impressed with the pigmentation. The yellow shade is a tad chalky and will not show up well on woc without a proper base. My favorite shades from this pallet are the blue, purple and red. The blue I have not used in a look as of yet but the swatches are super promising! You can save money on their products by using my code Melalynn!

Hope you enjoy this short tutorial I created for my YouTube using this pallet!

TREND: Faux Freckles

I never fall head over heels in love with beauty trends day when I first see them. Which explains why I’m just trying faux freckles. Last year it seemed EVERYONE was on the faux freckles trend, which is probably why I couldn’t be bothered with it. While it was so cute, the fact the entire beauty community was riding that wave turned me off so much.

I finally played with this trend and honestly I LOVE it! Here’s how I achieved the faux freckles look.

I used the Elf lock on liner and brow cream on the back end of a super small makeup brush. I dotted the product being careful not to use too much or drag it across my face. After placing the freckles where I wanted them, I took a bit of Coty Airspun powder on my Real Techniques sponge to go over the freckles giving them a more natural look.

I then finished my face routine by applying my bronzer, blush and highlighter on top of the freckles giving an even more natural appearance. I honestly love how it turned out!

What are your thoughts on the Faux Freckles trend?

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara Review + Exciting News

For Christmas last year my fiancé got me the most amazing smelling perfume set. Tresor from Lancôme is a very sensual scent and is perfect for a night out! In the set also came a smaller, travel size version and a mini makeup set with a cute makeup bag to store your goodies.

In the makeup set I received a mini version of Lancôme’s cleansing oil, black pencil eyeliner, a lipstick, a cute blush and a sample size of their Hypnôse Drama mascara. I’ve been using this mascara on and off since then and feel I can give a detailed review! Let’s hop in.

I want to first talk about the wand. A lot of mascaras now have curved wands to better mimic the shape of an eye so your lashes are curled better. This particular wand, is shaped almost in a twisted position. I love the wand because it’s able to grab on to my lashes better separating while curling my lashes giving them a fuller appearance.

Here are a few photos that I’m wearing the mascara in:

I am also impressed with the lack of clumping you get from this mascara. While too much of any good thing can be bad, using the right amount will give you the perfect outcome every time.

A full size version of this mascara will run you $27.50. Lucky enough, Lancôme offers a travel size for $13.00! I am certainly in love with this mascara and will more than likely be purchasing the full version soon enough!

What is your favorite mascara? What do you like the most? Lengthening or fullness?

You can purchase the full or travel size of the mascara Here.

On to my exciting news!

To tie into my lash talk today, I thought it would be the perfect time to share about my partnership with the amazing Dodo Lashes! They offer a variety of lash styles at super affordable prices. I particularly love their lash in the style D309. Their lashes are priced from $5-$12. You can now save some money when you purchase from them by using my code “Melalynn” ! *As a disclaimer, I will earn a bit of money every time my code is used.* As an aspiring blogger and stay at home mom getting paid for my hobbies is definitely a goal of mine. I appreciate everyone who may use my code in the future!

This brand Collab was amazing to come across and I couldn’t have been chosen for it without everyone who supports me! Thank you all for stopping by!

My Nightly Skincare Routine: 5 easy steps

I’m super excited to share my skincare routine and the amazing products I’m able to offer to help you get your skin in check as well! If you don’t know, about 3 months ago I made the decision to start my business offering health and wellness products that I had grown to love. I’m not only able to make an income from my hone, I’m able to help others with achieving their health and wellness goals, even help other moms and creatives also start up their own business and make an income from home or anywhere in the world!

Before I get too off topic, lets hop into my night time skincare routine.

Assuming this is a makeup day (which is definitely not everyday LOL) I take coconut oil on a cotton round and remove all of my makeup. Then, I take coconut oil on a q-tip to further remove any eyeliner that didn’t come off previously.

After I’m free of any makeup, I use my ItWorks gel-free, plant based cleanser to get rid of makeup, dirt, all of the debris of the day. What I love the most about my cleanser is the way it foams up. I KNOW, I KNOW I sound like a child. But who doesn’t LOVE how much cleaner you feel if your cleanser lathers into a huge white cloud?

I then, apply a little of ItWorks defining gel as a moisturizer. This is the most amazing product! It has a similar formula as our body wraps, so it tightens and tones your skin. So it helps tightens your pores. The light gel consistency perfectly moisturizes your skin.

Next, I use the PraySlayHustle  Hydrating lip oil. PraySlayHustle is a Black Owned skincare and make up brand, started by my friend Taylor. I recently was sent the Hydrating lip oil and was instantly in love! The oil is in a very compact tube. with a roller ball applicator that gets just the right amount of product out. It’s very lightweight and very moisturizing.

My last step is to spray my face with any beauty water of choice. I typically use rose water, cucumber water and more recently I’ve been using the PraySlayHustle Beauty Water .

These steps leave my skin moisturized and protected for the night!

If you have any questions about the ItWorks products listed, or would like to purchase or sample, please e-mail me at Joyceworksit@gmail.com I’d love to get you on the way to clear, glowing skin!

I hope you’ll connect with me on my socials!

PÜR Cosmetics Quick Pro Glitters

Hey babes! So I was sent 3 of the Quick Pro Glitters from PÜR Cosmetics in the shades Queenie, Lust, and Namaslay.

The applicator for these liquid glitters is so small and sleek you could use it to apply on the go.

I was so tempted to dive in and play with them! I created these two makeup looks using the glitters in shades Namaslay and Queenie.

*glitter in Namaslay used*

*glitter in Queenie used*

I was super impressed with the pigments of the glitters. They are very opaque and one good swipe will cover your entire lid! The only con I can see is after a few hours of wear I got an insane amount of fallout. I haven’t tried to see if wearing a glitter primer would fix this problem, but that is my next step.

These glitters retail for $39 for a set of 5 which I believe for the quality is very reasonable. You’ll have these glitters for quite a long time since a little goes such a long way.

Huge thank you to PÜR Cosmetics for sending me these beautiful glitters *all opinions are my own*

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Be sure to follow me on YouTube , Instagram , Twitter .
